Product Designer - Wilson Sporting Goods

We are currently seeking an Product Design Intern to support our Team Sports business unit. This position will play a role in identifying and implementing cutting edge design/technologies into Wilson's performance and Connected Products that can support the needs of athletes and their evolving personal preferences. As the Industrial Designer Intern, you will work closely with members of the Team Sport Advanced Innovation and Product Development Teams to develop a holistic design solution. This is a hands-on position with a heavy emphasis on design work for the performance Football and Basketball categories. We are looking for a creative and innovative visionary to help drive the overall Team Sport design language for products that inspire passion with our target end users. 

This internship will run May - September 2022.



Duties

  • Keep up to date on everything related to Football, Basketball, Soccer and Volleyball performance, including but not limited to off field/court lifestyle, shoe and digital trends. 
  • Research, identify, initiate, or interpret these trends into new product concepts that satisfy end user requirements.  
  • Develop tech packs and communicate product concepts within the company and to US and Asia-based colleagues by:
  • Developing 2D and 3D rendered graphics 
  • Creating logos, color ways, finishes and cosmetic elements to adorn the product  
  • Research and create inspiration / trend / color boards for future product line development.



Requirements

We are looking for juniors, seniors or recent graduates of an accredited four-year college or university seeking or who have obtained a degree in: industrial design, graphic design, product design or related ares.

Ideal candidates will have experience working across a variety of mediums in the design and production of branding, product, and packaging. Experience working in a CAD production setting and applying 2D graphics to 3D objects is strongly preferred. 



Nice To Haves


  • Demonstrated passion for Team Sports
  • Experience with 3D CAD (SolidWorks) software including advanced surfacing techniques
  • Experience in 3D rendering software (KeyShot or comparable) for high end finished product imagery
  • Strong hand sketching and rendering skills with ability to create designs quickly, working in and out of software, preferred
  • Highly proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, or similar design software
  • Digital UX/UI experience a plus 
  • Creative, problem solving, follow-through, attention to detail, team player.
  • Must be comfortable in a fluid and evolving organization with a highly collaborative work style.
  • Excellent presentation skills in both small and large group settings.
  • Working knowledge of materials, fabrics, and cut/sew operations a plus
  • Ability to synthesize design-inspired consumer insights through connections with athletes
