$46,466.40 - Starting Pay for New Teacher with No Experience

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s or higher degree in School Counseling; an S-5 or above certificate as required by the Professional Standards Commission. 
 
GOAL
Assist students in academic and social problems, and in planning academic and career choices. 
 
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Implement or assist in implementing a developmental counseling and guidance program considering the school needs.
  • Conduct individual counseling in areas of educational and personal need as referred by staff, family or self-referred.
  • Conduct group counseling in identified areas.
  • Conduct classroom activities to support instruction, educational transition, career awareness and personal development
  • Prepare and submit notices to parents for students who are in danger of not being promoted and for students who are deficient in credit for graduation.
  • Supervise the registration of students, as directed.
  • Cooperate in compiling and maintaining appropriate student records.
  • Work with registration and placement of new students and schedule changes.
  • Evaluate transcripts of incoming and transferring students and keep appropriate records.
  • Supervise the preparation and transmittal of transcripts and other official documents relating to students.
  • Serve as a resource to homeroom advisors/teachers and assist in homeroom advisement process, as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with Graduation Coaches, Career Pathways Facilitators and others as appropriate to successfully implement the Career Pathways initiative.
  • Assist in school-based scheduling for work-based learning students, as appropriate.
  • Assist with administration of standardized group testing.
  • Assist in analyzing test data.
  • Provide information to students and parents on career pathways and life development.
  • Consult and coordinate with staff, parents and community resources.
  • Participate in Student Support Team.
  • Serve as a team member in planning and operation of the school.
  • Supervise student elections.
  • Possess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate and/or credential as may be required for this position.
  • Follow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable and punctual manner.
  • Participate in training programs to increase skills and proficiency related to the assignment.
  • Review current developments, literature and technical source information related to job responsibilities.
  • Implement and adhere to appropriate safety procedures, crisis emergency plans to create and sustain a secure and healthy learning environment consistent with District and school rules, policies and procedures.
  • Carry out duties in accordance with federal and State laws, Code of Ethics for Educators in Georgia, and established State and local policies, regulations and practices.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents or guardians, District and school personnel, and other stakeholders in ways that enhance student learning.
  • Perform, professionally and efficiently, other duties as assigned.
