R&D Software Engineer

DCS Corp is looking for an R&D software engineer to support U.S. Army scientific research objectives in the area of Human-System Integration.
This position supports basic and applied research at the Human Systems Integration Division of the Combat Capabilities Development Command Data and Analysis Center at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Aberdeen, MD, as part of a small team of scientists and engineers performing research focused on Human-System Integration.

Essential Job Functions:
Work closely with Human-System Integration researchers to develop current and new research lines based on customer needs.
Work with research teams to design custom software solutions for specific experimental objectives.
Design and develop software for data collection, data analysis, and data visualization.
Recommend new technologies and novel approaches for complex system requirements.
Apply best practices (version control, documentation, etc.) for all developed and modified software.
Aid in writing research proposals.

Required Skills:
Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
Masters degree (or equivalent experience and expertise with research & development and technical writing) from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Cognitive Science, Data Science, HCI, Computer Engineering, Cyber Security, or related discipline and One year of experience.
Must be able to obtain a National Agency Check (NAC) clearance.
Experience developing desktop GUI software and/or web-applications.
Experience integrating applications with database integration.
Experience with multiple programming languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript and node, R and shiny).
Experience with a version control system (such as Git, CVS, Subversion, etc.).
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Must be ready to adapt to quickly changing requirements during the development process.
Successful candidates will be highly motivated and team-oriented.

Desired Skills:
Experience in designing and developing research experiments, collecting and analyzing data.
Experience writing research proposals.
Experience with data logging and data visualization development.
Experience with full-stack web development.
Experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases.
Experience with AI/ML, deep learning frameworks (e.g. tensorflow), data science.
Experience with behavioral simulations and/or cognitive modeling.
Familiarity with HCI research.
Familiarity with networks and cyber-security.
