Crime Victim Advocate (Coordinator I-NE)

 
As a part of the Sex Crimes unit within the Detectives Division, this position provides direct advocacy services to victims of sex crimes, identified by the Portland Police Bureau. Victim Advocates respond to cases involving sex crimes; either by working a case with an assigned Detective/Officer or by providing advocacy support services to victims whose case will not be investigated. 
What you’ll get to do: 
  • Create and maintain contact with reporting victims while providing empathetic support 
  • Utilize knowledge of trauma informed care to support needs and facilitate safety planning 
  • Identify appropriate resources and referrals that address trauma and prevent future re-victimization 
  • Provide in-person support during detective interviews and investigative activities 
  • Enhance the victims’ and community’s knowledge of the legal system and to promote greater understanding of the options available to crime victims.
