Fisheries Biological Aide - McCall Snorkel Crew (5 positions)

Employee will be a member of a five person crew plus a crew leader to conduct fish and habitat surveys in streams by snorkeling. Crew will also conduct creel surveys for two local Chinook fisheries. Crew will camp in remote locations during field work. Position will be based out of McCall, where shared camping accommodations will be available when off duty or working locally.

Responsibilities Include: Work as a member of a five person crew, led by a crew leader, responsible for conducting fish and habitat surveys in back-country streams. Fish and habitat surveys are conducted primarily by snorkeling. Secondary duties include conducting angler surveys (creel surveys) for two local Chinook fisheries. Crew typically works eight 10-hour days followed by six days off duty, with some variability in that schedule. Crew will camp in remote locations during field work. Most specialized equipment and camping gear can be provided by employer but personal sleeping bag and pad is recommended. Meals and camping equipment provided when on duty away from McCall.

One year college in fisheries, biology, or related field; or equivalent in training and experience. Employee must have the ability to work in adverse weather, handle live and dead fish, and carry a 40 lb. pack for several miles, with or without reasonable accommodations. Applicants must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license.
