About Bluebonnet Data:
Founded in 2018 as the first volunteer data team for Beto O’Rourke’s US Senate campaign, Bluebonnet Data is a woman-led organization focused on building people power in the progressive movement. We do this by recruiting, training, and organizing the next generation of tech-savvy talent for campaigns, nonprofits, parties, and other organizations in the Democratic ecosystem. We are dynamic individuals who will transform the Party for the modern era.

About the Technical Manager:
We are looking for a Technical Manager to manage Bluebonnet’s technical infrastructure, create and publish resources for the fellowship, and build tech partnerships. The Technical Manager will work directly with the Program Co-Directors and be responsible for Bluebonnet’s technical development.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Infrastructure Management
Specifically, the codebase, file storage system, community resources, and internal data management. 

Resource Creation and Management
Documentation, example code from previous teams, blog posts, wiki articles, forum activity, and catalogs of useful external resources. 

Team Support
Contribute to fellowship training sessions and provide direct support to teams of fellows solving technical problems in the course of their work.

Partnership Development
Foster existing relationships and build new connections to promote data and technical infrastructure in the progressive space. 

Required Skills and Experiences:

Strong quantitative and data skills
  • Robust background in working with data in Python or R, and ideally a strong understanding of both languages.
  • A strong familiarity with Git and version control, and ideally a strong familiarity with GitHub.
  • Demonstrated project experience in data science, ideally in the civic or political spaces.

Experiences with knowledge/data management
  • Has managed data via Drive, Airtable, or platform. 

Strategic leadership and agility
  • Able to think big-picture and able to break those large goals into smaller, actionable steps.
  • Observes and anticipates problem areas and approaches them with a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Able to think critically and challenge norms.

Strong communication skills
  • Able to juggle multiple projects and timelines.
  • Excellence in written and verbal communication.
  • Able to approach teamwork with a constructive mindset.
  • Able to manage multiple internal and external relationships.

Familiarity with political campaigning:
  • Experience doing technical or data work within a political campaign setting– experience with organizing and other campaign activities is a plus.

Title Determination: 
The job title is currently listed as Technical Manager. Title and compensation will be determined based on the qualifications of the applicant. There will be opportunities for advancement in salary, benefits, and title pending success within the organization.

Classification, Salary, and Benefits: 
Full-time salary ($70,000 to $80,000) commensurate with location and experience. Benefits include a healthcare reimbursement plan; generous vacation and sick time; and flexible work hours.  

Bluebonnet Data is a remote organization, but team members currently work between Boston (MA), Austin (TX), Dallas (TX), Houston (TX), and Washington DC.
