Digital Marketing Intern (Remote or Hybrid)

About the Role: 
A Digital Marketing Intern at Thaddeus will experience hands-on training and apply relevant skills in creating marketing initiatives to promote the organization’s presence within the community. The Intern will gain exposure to and participate in tactical marketing planning and execution of our advertising, graphic design and artworks, events execution, social media, website management, email campaigns, etc. This is a well-rounded position that will provide the Intern with the opportunity to learn and grow their craft in delivering and creating digital deliverables in a business professional setting.     

The Digital Marketing Intern will receive direct supervision from the Development Head under the Development Department and will get the chance to work in a self-organized team setting under the Community Engagement Committee. 
 
(Note: this is an unpaid internship role) 
 
Responsibilities: 
  • Produce and publish website and social media content to market and promote events 
  • Assist in developing ways to improve promotional material to enhance and grow the organization’s brand awareness and online reputation 
  • Drive engagement across social platforms and Thaddeus websites to cultivate an active audience and ensure content is timely, relevant, and engaging 
  • Keep up to date and informed on new social media trends and adapt accordingly 
  • Assist with day-to-day community engagement and marketing operations 
  • Implement successful search engine marketing and market research surveys 
  • Develop internal marketing strategies in alignment with the Strategic Planning process 
  • Perform other assigned duties, as needed 
 
Qualifications: 
Required:  
  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or another related field 
  • Ability to learn, interpret, explain, and apply strong and effective communication skills both verbally and in writing 
  • Ability to handle multiple projects, priorities, make recommendations for appropriate action and meet deadlines on a day-to-day basis 
  • Ability to demonstrate strong and effective organizational and time management skills 
  • Strong research, graphic design, and computer skills 
  • Ability to motivate others 
  • Basic knowledge of HTML tags 
  • Ability to work independently with little instruction and a strong attention to detail  
  • Experience with content creation tools 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) 
  • Intern must have the appropriate technology, internet connection, and ability to function in a virtual capacity via Microsoft Teams 
Preferred:  
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) 
  • Experience working or volunteering with non-profits 
  • Experience using/managing websites (WebFlow) and/or social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Teams and OneNote, 8x8 Work, and Adobe Creative Suite (especially Adobe Acrobat DC) 

Learning Objectives: 
  • Intern will learn how to develop the skills necessary to transition ideas into digital deliverable marketing content for businesses 
  • Intern will learn how to identify and analyze a target market 
  • Intern will learn to create viable marketing proposals aimed to grow the organization 
  • Intern will learn to create, publish and manage social media and online content   

Time Commitment and Working Conditions: 
  • Due to COVID-19, the responsibilities for this role can be performed 100% remotely, on-site, or as a hybrid experience  
  • Must be available to work a minimum of 15-20 hours per week  
  • Must be available for the following VIRTUAL weekly meetings: 
  • Weekly All Staff Meeting: Mondays 9 AM –10:30 AM PST 
  • Weekly Department Meeting: Thursdays 4 PM - 5 PM PST 
  • Weekly Committee Meeting: Mondays 3 PM – 4 PM PST 
  • Must be able to commit to this 6-month to 1-year internship (accommodations can be made for school schedules, as well as exams)
