Illinois Restaurant Association-Events Intern

JOB SUMMARY:
·      IRA Special Events is in need of an intern who will be responsible for general administrative duties and coordination assistance on special events including the Board of Directors Annual Meeting, Chef’s Table, Annual Golf Outing, Chicago Gourmet, and more.   
·      Must be able to work a minimum of two to three full days each week. Hours will vary during events. Class credit is available pending school approval. This is an exciting opportunity to gain real-world experience in large scale event planning. This is a part-time, unpaid internship.
 
ABOUT THE IRA:
·      The Illinois Restaurant Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting, protecting, educating and improving the restaurant industry in Illinois.
 
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
·      Assist the Special Events team in managing the operation in any and all phases pre-event or on-site as deemed fit.
·      Administrative duties include, but are not limited to, Memo Writing, Letter Writing, Scheduling, Filing, Phone Calls, Assigned Daily Projects and Special Projects.
·      Data entry and evaluation.
·      Represent the Illinois Restaurant Association with pride, integrity, and dedication.
·      Perform other duties or work on other projects as assigned.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
·      Detail oriented and strong organizational skills.
·      Ability to work in fast paced, collaborative environment.
·      Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
·      Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Publisher) and database management.
·      Knowledge of mail merge in Microsoft Office.
·      Professional demeanor.
·      Ability to work independently.
·      Strong interpersonal skills and judgment.
·      Enthusiastic, self-motivated and committed to excellence.
·      Will be required to work the week/weekend of events.
