Process and Product Implementation Technician/ Production Specialist
 
To coordinate with the central R&D team to execute new products and projects in the factory.
To participate in continuous improvement in the Extrusion and Mixing workshops with the goal
of maximizing safety, efficiency and waste through implementations of new technologies and
processes.
  • Royal Canin seeks to continuously improve its products and its business operations. These improvements have to be identified and executed while maintaining current production levels and keeping the associates and product safe. The plant is a very fast paced and demanding environment with continuously changing priorities.
  • These improvements are focused on the areas of equipment utilization, waste generation, product performance, human safety, and food safety. The PPI will complete all relevant documentation required by Mars safety, quality and food safety, and ISO change management.
  • The PPI acts as the expert on how the process is supposed to function when communicating to stakeholders outside of the Process team. They will participate in teams to identify root cause in non-conforming products and implement ways to improve the product. They will also participate in troubleshooting teams for critical equipment breakdowns and help schedule the proper preventive maintenance associated with the equipment.
 
What would your key responsibilities be?
  • Product upgrade = KQA and Factory feedback for product upgrade, is responsible for providing to the New Product project team the assessment of existing production performance, root cause analysis of issues and analysis of the complaints at a factory level.
  • MRA of new raw materials
  • Test-run (process + packaging) for new products Is responsible for industrial test run (preparation, realization, validation of the CSF, reporting), organizes the GO/NO GO with Industrialization engineer, formulation and factories.
  • Operational launch (provide specifications, system updates, team communications)
  • Daily product review/evaluation. Responsible for the first production until Qualification has been achieved and the first full production has been run successfully.
  • Qualification review + PDCA. Responsible for qualification review preparation for the factory (sampling, collecting analytical results) Is responsible for the product PDCA updates

  • Technical risk assessment with Q&FS team
  • Commissioning with Engineering team
  • Work instruction
  • Development of Test Plans
  • Development and delivery of training for associates

Best practices sharing and training
  • Investigate waste generation causes and propose solutions to reduce them. Use of Six Sigma, SPC, and other Lean Tools
  • Assess equipment utilization with cross functional teams to increase plant productivity.
  • Implement continuous improvement projects in the area of food safety, ergonomic, and product performance.
  • Create standard operating conditions and Centerlines for each product.
  • Coordinates all PPI tasks to support R&D strategies for growth, quality and efficiency.
  • Collaborates with area coordinator, IE, AML, and operations teams for Continuous Improvement
 
What are we looking for?
Education & Professional Qualification
  • B.S. in Food Science, Chemistry, or Engineering Preferred with 1-3 years’ experience or around 5 years of manufacturing experience with HS Diploma.
  • Physical ability to climb stairs, work in elevated temperature and humidity environments, for extended length shifts on occasion
  • 35 lb lifting minimum.
  • Ability to use simple tools to do small mechanical jobs.
 
Knowledge/Experience
  • Identifying continuous improvement opportunities and suggesting improvements
  • Project management.
  • Six Sigma, Statistical Process Control, Lean management tools
