About Hope Faith
Hope Faith’s goal is to alleviate homelessness and poverty in Kansas City by providing basic necessities and offering programs that empower adults, youth, and families to achieve self-sufficiency. Our “one-stop” location approach reduces the barriers that people face when seeking programs and services that are spread throughout the Kansas City metro area. People experiencing homelessness and low-income individuals, families, and youth often lack access to adequate transportation. Having a centralized location for programs and services reduces the number of barriers to these services. During the pandemic, Hope Faith is continuing to provide the following services: -Breakfast and lunch -Mailing address and mail services -Hygiene supplies and showers -Hope Health is a centralized location with on-site partners, such as Heart 2 Heart International, Swope Health and KC Free Eye Clinic, that provide medical, vision, and mental health care -Intensive case management that provides connections to human service organizations, area agencies, and external mental health agencies. Hope Faith is the only agency currently providing case management services to people experiencing homelessness and poverty in Kansas City. Case managers also help with employment referrals, & housing navigation. -Men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing is being distributed as needed -Private showers are still offered indoors
Job Description
Hope Faith AmeriCorps VISTA Member will work to increase operations effectiveness and efficiency with our Hope Feeds Program for those who are experiencing homelessness or are at-risk. This will be done through observing current processes and improving upon them through creating and implementing inventory controls, building upon existing relationships with our meal donation partners, as well as working alongside the Executive Chef to create new partnerships. The Hope Feeds Specialist will also learn the ins and outs of proper meal preparation procedures in order to assist the Executive Chef and Lead Cook with setting volunteers up for success when they are serving in the kitchen.
