Materials Manager

The Materials Manager will be responsible for all activities with incoming and outgoing materials including responsibilities for managing supply chain, cost negotiations, issuing PO's, production planning and working closely with quality for new supplier approval. Analyze MRP requirements to coordinate Purchase Orders and Production Work Orders to meet the forecast plan. Determine quantities and timing of materials to control inventory flow for both manufacturing and distribution warehousing. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Analytical skills a must.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Coordinate production material activities for manufacturing products. This involves the creation and execution of purchase orders and work orders in order to maintain production schedule.
  • Maintain forecast/demand for MRP as determined by S&OP and customer forecasts.
  • Review MRP reports to provide accurate and timely resolution of material shortages.
  • Resolve any late work orders and define schedule recovery. Daily review of work order status and update of work order due dates is required.
  • Monitors and takes appropriate action on engineering change notices per the HMICAR & ICCO processes.
  • Manage the engineering development order process (EDO) for engineering requests of production assemblies or systems that have minor deviations to the released production design. This excludes prototypes or verification builds.
  • Select and negotiate with approved vendors, for placing purchase order in response to material requirements.
  • Develop a domestic supply base to improve delivery time and eliminate high shipping cost from offshore vendors. Communicate with HMAG Global Procurement Team and Quality for supplier changes or new supplier approval.
  • Establish Service safety stocks, analyzing volatility, lead times, and system issues to recommend and set parameters to efficiently forecast/plan/deliver products to support the service organization.
  • Participate in project teams (Project Review, Product Launch, Cost Analysis, etc.)
  • Interact with sales and corporate to provide shipping dates and follow up order status.
  • Develop and document policies and procedures as required.
  • Procure and oversee all office supplies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Hands on experience with MRP processes and computer systems.
  • Effective Communication – oral and written.
  • Close attention to detail.
  • Sound problem solving skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively and efficiently with general supervision.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Query writing in Excel or Access using relational databases.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Leadership experience with direct and indirect reports.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • 5 plus years' experience in Supply Chain Management or related field.
  • Business degree or technical degree or equivalent.
  • Master's degree in business or equivalent desired.
  • D365 or similar ERP/CRM software application experience a must have.
  • Inventory management experience desired.
