People Strategy, Intern - Remote

Overview
We are seeking to hire an ambitious and curious individual who loves learning, solving problems with innovative solutions, and is keen to learn new technologies. As part of the Strategic Initiatives team within our People function, you will act as an internal consultant to help craft incredible experiences for our employees while supporting our growth and the achievement of Tucows' business goals.

You are organized and results-oriented, and love challenging the HR stereotype. You'll get to work collaboratively with our team of adventure seekers who like to use design thinking to tackle complex problems.

What you'll be doing
Your impact will be far-reaching and your responsibilities will be multifaceted. Our team will be looking for your curiosity and for you to share your unique point of view. Responsibilities include the following (but are not limited to):
  • Provide support on current people initiatives aimed at supporting all employees, especially leaders, at Tucows.
  • Study a wide range of people programs such as employee engagement, people analytics and performance management to help inform future opportunities for Tucows.
  • Hone your interviewing skills by speaking to a variety of employees to support the design thinking process.
  • Demonstrate your excellent written and verbal communication skills in presenting your research findings and recommendations.

What skills and experience you can bring
  • Strong quantitative and problem-solving skills.
  • A curiosity about data visualization for people analytics.
  • Comfort with technology, Google G-suite products (Docs, Sheets, Slides and Forms) and learning new HR software programs.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong emphasis on timely follow-through, consistency and "getting things done"
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts effectively for a specific audience verbally, graphically and in written format.
  • Very comfortable in dealing with ambiguity, with a constant drive to focus, simplify and embrace an agile methodology.
