Social Media Intern for AgTech Startup

Akorn Technology is looking to add a driven, creative, quick-thinking, and well-organized intern to our nimble startup team this Fall. The internship is part-time and unpaid, possibly becoming a part-time paid position in the future.

Akorn Technology is an agtech startup founded by two UC Berkeley alums with deep expertise in AgTech/FoodTech, fresh produce, consumer and retail marketing and science-driven startups. We are on a mission to promote better nutrition and minimize food waste throughout the produce supply chain.  We provide solutions for producers and retailers to deliver harvest-fresh, tastier, and longer-lasting fruits and vegetables. Akorn plant-based coatings extend the shelf life and quality of fresh produce. We Make Your Good Food, Better! ™
 
We are looking for a motivated and talented social media intern to join our team. The goal of this role is to post compelling social media content to build awareness and engagement for Akorn with our target audience, as well as to help you further develop your social media skills in a professional work environment. 
 
As an intern, you will work closely with our company founders on real, hands-on social media projects. Interns will be able to apply classroom-based knowledge and past work experience to projects and gain essential skills needed to be more career-ready. We strive to make this internship as realistic and informative as possible. Course credit available based on your school’s rules.
 
Responsibilities:
• Developing and enhancing Akorn’s presence on a focused set of social media channels. Maintaining, posting, and updating social media profiles and content on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook with appropriate and appealing content
• Creating effective written copy and digital brand assets (graphics, video)
• Managing and updating content calendar for Akorn on different social media channels
• Analyzing social media performance and recommending and implementing adjustments to the plan

Our Ideal Intern is:
• Passionate about agriculture, fruits/vegetables, sustainability/food waste, mission-driven enterprises… with a genuine desire to learn more
• Available to work ~5-10 hours per week
• Pursuing a degree and/or interest in agriculture, entrepreneurship, business, communications, sustainability.
• Creatively driven and organized
• Detail-oriented, proactive self-starter
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong knowledge and interest in creating and posting eye-catching and persuasive content on social media platforms like LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram

** This internship will be remote, with preference to students enrolled at United States educational institutions.
