Entry Level Mechanical Engineer

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking a motivated Entry Level Mechanical Engineer to join our Mechanical Systems Engineering team at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in Niskayuna, NY!
Mechanical Systems Engineering is a multi-discipline team of engineers, working collaboratively to support preventative maintenance, emergent repairs and new projects for systems and facility infrastructure at our Knolls site. If you're interested in mechanical systems such as HVAC, chiller and piping systems, and boilers, then this position might be for you!

Typical work includes but is not limited to:
  • Engineering emergent repairs to aging systems
  • Generating technical specifications and cost estimates for new projects
  • Developing temporary operating procedures to support repairs
  • Supporting preventative maintenance
  • Maintaining and updating system drawings and manuals
  • Performing programmatic risk assessments for mechanical systems

Required Skills *

Associate:
  • BS degree in engineering or Bachelor's degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university required

Intermediate:
  • BS degree in engineering or Bachelor's degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years of relevant experience; or
  • MS degree in engineering or Master's degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of one year of relevant experience

Preferred Skills

  • BS Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering
  • GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
