Facility Security Officer

Applied Research Associates (ARA), Inc. Integrated Mission Systems Sector has an immediate need for an experienced security professional to serve in the role of Facility Security Officer (FSO) in Raleigh, NC. The successful applicant will perform daily security functions and provide oversight of ARA’s traditional security program as part of an integrated team of security professionals supporting a wide range of classified programs and government customers. Applicants must possess a government security clearance and maintain eligibility requirements for access to classified information. This is a full-time position.

Facility Security Officer responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Review proposals and contracts to provide security-related expertise, guidance, and implementation plans in accordance with 32 CFR Part 117 (NISPOM)
  • Interface with Program Managers to satisfy access needs and ensure the protection of sensitive information
  • Support Information System Security Manager with submission of DCSA accreditation packages
  • Security Manager with submission of DCSA accreditation packages
  • Ensure compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) Manuals and Intelligence Community Directives (ICD) as well as program-specific requirements
  • Develop and administer security education training; conduct foreign travel briefings and debriefings; prepare and track DD254s, and maintain security documentation as required in accordance with cognizant security agency directives
  • Ensure new employees are properly in-processed to include execution of SF 312 Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA) and other customer vetting processes as required
  • Direct the management of personnel clearances and processing of visit access requests in the Defense Information Security System (DISS) and the Army Centralized Contracts and Security (ACCS) Portal
  • Provide employees with personnel security guidance consistent with the 13 adjudicative guidelines to assist them in managing their clearances in a Continuous Vetting environment
  • Contribute to applying physical security concepts to improve security in-depth posture
  • Manage Intrusion Detection and Access Control Systems in accordance with ICD, DoD, and UL 2050 standards
  • Partner with team members to maintain an effective document inventory and control program for the management, shipping, and receiving of classified material
  • Direct the investigation and reporting of security incidents and deliver discipline as required
  • Assist with requests for Common Access Cards (CACs), Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNet) account creation, and other account or facility access needs as required
  • Work with security team members to provide comprehensive and consistent security practices across Traditional, Sensitive Compartmented Information and Special Access Programs to satisfy internal and external customers

Facility Security Officer Requirements:
  • Active Secret Security Clearance with eligibility for access to Special Access Programs
  • Bachelor's degree along with 5-7 years related experience OR 11-13 years of experience in lieu of a degree
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience interfacing with DCSA and other government representatives

Facility Security Officer Desired:
  • Active Top Secret Security Clearance
  • CDSE FSO Curriculum for Possessing Facilities Certificate 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products
  • Experience with Access Commander
  • Experience with DISS, NISS, SWFT, ACCS, or other government applications
  • Knowledge of the NIST SP 800-53, NIST SP 800-57, and the NIST SP 800-171
  • Knowledge of DoD Manuals 5105.21 volumes 1-3, 5200.01 volumes 1-4, 5205.07 volumes 1-3, and ICD 705
