Strategic Sourcing Specialist - Purchasing Supervisor

The Strategic Sourcing Specialist / Purchasing Supervisor will report into the Purchasing Manager and will work to develop employees along with executing the purchasing strategy.

Job Functions:

  • Supervise members of the purchasing team. Provide guidance and assistance to buyers in resolving disputes with vendors. Identify and develop training opportunities. Lead the purchasing team in on time delivery of scheduled production requirements.
  • Prepares performance reviews for department personnel.
  • Assist with cost down effort by optimizing purchased materials and product costs.
  • Review minimum order quantity and part lead times and adjust as needed.
  • Measure and evaluate vendor performance.
  • Make recommendations to management regarding vendor performance.
  • Coordinate with accounts payable and shipping/receiving regarding billing or returns to ensure records accuracy.
  • Interface with sales/marketing as required to coordinate required changes to delivery status of committed product.
  • Review open order report daily to ensure vendors meet committed delivery dates.
  • Provide input and participate in review of vendor performance.

Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Business, Supply chain or related field from a regionally accredited University.
  • Proven track record in a leadership role in supply chain.
  • Well organized and strong ability to pay attention to details.
  • Engineering background and hands on experience is a plus.
  • Ability to review and understand technical drawings and specifications.
  • Able to source alternate suppliers for different commodities.
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in procurement.
  • Effective interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work without much supervision.
  • Proficient understanding of Microsoft products for use in day to day activity.
  • Must be able to read, comprehend written correspondence and reports.
  • Must be able to communicate with multiple levels of staff throughout the organization.
  • Manufacturing experience is a plus.
  • Position requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
