West Michigan Academy of Arts and Academics is hiring a Elementary Teacher
West Michigan Academy of Arts & Academics, a K-8 charter school located in Spring Lake was established in 1996. WMAAA’s mission is to empower our students to reach their ultimate personal success through the unique integration of arts and academics.
IDEAL CANDIDATE:
- Workshop teaching
- SIOP, WIDA standards and assessments desired, but not required.
- Fluency in spoken and written Spanish desired, but not required.
- Knowledge and experience teaching in an ELL program.
- Exhibits superior organizational and communication skills
- Compassionate; willing to collaborate
- Knowledgeable about recent research in pedagogy in the field of second language acquisition and ELL education.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plans, organizes, and provides pull out/push in instruction in English in the Core Curriculum Content Standards and WIDA English Language Proficiency Standards for grades Kindergarten through Eighth Grade.
- Develops and delivers lesson plans that ensure learners meet or exceed learning targets, and allow English learners to meaningfully access the district’s instructional program. Administers academic and language assessments.
- Maintains complete and accurate records of student’s progress and evidence of growth and progress.
- Establish and maintain communication with parents of students in the program.
- Attends professional English Language Acquisition meetings.
- Understands and complies with the policies, rules, and regulations regarding the English learners.
- Performs such other and not specifically enumerated duties as may be requested by the Board of Education, superintendent, or established by the School Code.
