Best Buy Teen Tech Center Manager

JOB SUMMARY: The Capri Best Buy Teen Tech Center Manager operates the Capri Best Buy Teen Tech Center which is an innovative program established with the support of The Clubhouse Network. The program offers young people (ages 10-18) the opportunity to work on projects they find meaningful to their lives using computers and technology, providing the support and resources to pursue their interest and build upon their talents. This position is expected to provide planning and support that contribute to the overall success of PCYC, The Capri and their programs.
 
WAGE RANGE: $21.00-24.00/hour
 
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Youth Development and Support
·      Advance PCYC, North Minneapolis and Twin Cities STEM and arts activities by helping Teen Tech Center members develop projects
·      Recruit, train and supports volunteer members, assuring that they work effectively with youth
·      Integrate the Teen Tech Center and PCYC’s mission by providing community outreach to involve a diverse group of young people, parents, teachers and community leaders
·      Supporting youth in planning for the future, including assisting with pursuing academic and job opportunities that leverage their Teen Tech skills and experiences.
Facilities and Equipment Maintenance
·      Leverage the Best Buy National Partner relationships to expose members to skill development and media training
·      Maintain computer, electronic equipment and files
·      Provide trouble-shooting and technical support
·      Keep the Teen Tech Center space clean, organized and well stocked
Clubhouse Network Collaboration
·      Actively participate in the Clubhouse Network by attending Network Meetings, sharing ideas and issues, supporting collaborative projects across sites and assisting in fund-raising and publicity
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree or 2 year-degree and at least 5 years’ experience working with youth
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proven track record working with youth, in particular young people from underserved neighborhoods; work experience in an informal learning environment; experience with computers and interest in technology as a creative and empowering tool; demonstrated ability to reach out to youth, parents, educators, and community leaders; interpersonal skills, including an ability to get along with people of diverse backgrounds and abilities and a talent for making people feel welcome and included; a passion for learning and helping others to learn; and excellent organizational skills.
Licenses and Certifications: A valid MN Drivers’ License and the ability to meet PCYC’s driving record requirements; and/or access to reliable transportation required to occasionally travel offsite for meetings or errands.
