JOB SUMMARY: The HR Generalist will provide support to the HR Consultants who serve as point of contact for executives, managers and employees on general HR issues and needs. The primary HR functional areas supported by this position include performance management, employee relations, policy implementation and interpretation, affirmative action and employment law compliance. The incumbent routinely seeks guidance from senior HR staff when confronted with situations outside of their prior experience and training.
 
This is an entry level position with the expectation that within a year of employment, the incumbent will fully support and manage the Human Resource needs of an assigned portfolio of human services nonprofit organizations that subscribe to MACC’s Human Resource service.

WAGE RANGE: $23.00 - $27.00 / hour
 
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develops materials, plans and schedules to assist in the coordination of the delivery of other in-scope HR services, such as annual performance appraisal/merit increase cycle, periodic administration of employee engagements surveys, harassment awareness and prevention training, and compensation analysis.
  • Support the staffing function which may include: conducting new employee orientation, background checks, verifies completion of new-hire documentation, verifies all I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 records.
  • Researches and supports Consultant as needed on a range of talent management, employee relations and performance management topics.
·      In collaboration with the Consultant, provides manager support by reviewing and updating job descriptions and job postings, provides guidance and makes recommendations. 
·      Gathers information to assist HR Consultants in unemployment claim responses and any hearings.
·      Runs reports and gathers data to support affirmative action programs.
  • Supports other HR roles as needed such as FMLA leave administration, timecard/paid time off issues, staff intranet maintenance, etc.
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
·      Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or demonstrably equivalent knowledge gained through alternative courses of study and experience, or a minimum of two years’ work experience in an HR-related role.
·      Knowledge of and/or experience working or volunteering in a nonprofit setting preferred.
·      Prior supervisor or management experience not required, but desired
·      A PHR or SHRM-CP professional designation is not required, but the incumbent is expected to pursue vigorous development in human resources education and experience to obtain certification within one year.
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
·      Proficient in Microsoft suite software, internet resources and data management software.
·      Self-motivated, detailed-oriented individual with excellent oral and written communication skills.
·      Ability to coach managers and gain a strong level of influence and negotiation skills.
·      Solid problem-solving and business acumen skills.
·      Ability to establish, maintain and grow healthy working relationships with internal and external partners in the course of work.
·      Ability to work independently on a broad variety of projects.
·      Ability to partner, collaborate, and listen effectively.
·      Ability to maintain absolute discretion when dealing with confidential information.
·      Ability to travel to member sites within 20 mile radius of the office.

Licenses and/or Certifications:
·      Valid MN Drivers’ License, access to reliable transportation, and the ability to meet MACC’s driving record requirements.
