Skin Care Packaging - Senior Scientist

The Packaging Senior Scientist position has broad project responsibilities to co-create and influence the strategic direction of the research work to be done! Initiates, leads, and still performs hands-on technology/capability/method development in order to deliver key technical initiatives, and can direct the Packaging technical work of others and lead cross-Job Family teams as needed. Well versed in using and understanding Digital innovation tools.

This role is responsible for leading packaging on projects, identifying opportunities to execute technical changes for improved efficiency and quality by following robust technical readiness principles and leveraging solid science. The scope of work includes package supply chain, packing line, and material qualifications across a broad range of packaging technologies and forms used in our Skin Care business. In this role, you would be responsible for providing coaching to other team members for daily work. The work is primarily North America focused, but does require global connections and support since Olay is a global business and supply chains are sourced from many geographies. You’ll join an experienced, passionate packaging department that develops a variety of package types and materials, serving multiple consumer segments across global markets, and delivering key business wins!

Lead, manage, and execute Skin Care Packaging MPD work across projects, productivity, and current business support. Lead packaging responsibilities within the cross functional teams. Lead packaging design and delivery through supplier qualifications, technical qualification, robust specifications and standards, and Plant EOs. Lead technical readiness documentation and reviews, including communication of technical learnings, risks, and recommendations. Provide daily technical coaching to other packaging team members.

Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a Bachelor's degree in the fields of Mechanical Engineering, Packaging, or other engineering or science degrees.

- Technical Mastery: Demonstrated strong problem solving and technical skills and aptitude is a must. The ideal candidate will have experience with penetrating issues, planning and executing testing, summarizing data, interpreting results and recommending next steps. Ability to ask technically probing questions to drive to root cause understanding when not the expert is also critical as the work is across many different technologies. 

- Collaboration: Must be a team player with strong collaboration skills including the ability to be the key package lead on multifunctional project teams working through issues with internal customers, plants, and suppliers. 

- Agility: Ability to handle numerous projects and changing priorities while staying focused on key priorities and delivering projects on-time.

- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills are required for presentations, creating multifunctional understanding & alignment, report writing, and collaboration with internal and external partners.
