Network Desktop Admin


I. Job Summary | Major goals and objectives.
KVVU FOX5, Meredith Corporation TV Stations, is seeking a Network Desktop Administrator that will be responsible for the day-to-day hands-on maintenance of the technical infrastructure at KVVU. This position is responsible for the integration, maintenance, operation, and support of broadcast and business information technology systems and reports to the Director of Engineering (DOE). The position will support broadcast-centric software and hardware as well as traditional desktop and file and print services.  He/she will respond quickly to provide technical support for news, sales, and other content production operations.
The ideal candidate will support day to day operations of broadcast information technology systems, software, and equipment. Maintain, upgrade, and support broadcast Information Technology and mobile devices throughout the station including the studio and transmitter facilities. Troubleshoot and repair computer hardware, software and peripherals, including network servers, storage, network operating systems, PCs and PC applications, LAN cabling, system security and virus protection. He/She will support telecommunications systems including business telephone switches, PRI, VOIP, carrier Ethernet, and other telecommunications technology. Candidates must have experience with or knowledge of Windows 2008-2012 Server, and Active Directory in a complex LAN and WAN computing environment. Support network security, network rights, naming standards, login scripts, and software upgrades.
The NDA will create and maintain all wiring documentation, and system configuration documentation. Maintain knowledge and stay current on technological advances including computer software and hardware, media and entertainment technologies, television broadcasting, studio production and workstation products. Must be willing to train on IT and Broadcast system operation and maintenance to service all aspects of the television environment. Must be available to work various hours and days including weekends, overnights, and holidays. Have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders and work on elevated surfaces, pull and install wiring, use hand and power tools, work on small components, and perform other physical tasks. Other duties as directed.
Must be able to think on their feet, work well with others, and be a problem solver/self-starter and a team player that is focused on quality customer service for internal customers. Work closely with the DOE, Asst. DOE, and with corporate IT support.  He/She will effectively communicate the status of problems, provide updates to progress on projects, and offer solutions to technical issues. External contacts include vendors of IT and communications services, software and hardware including but not limited to Dell, Cisco, AT&T, Verizon, Avid, Grass Valley, Ignite, Microsoft and consultants/outsourced functions).

III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.
Education:
BS in Information Systems Management or related field preferred.  Experience in Broadcast engineering or related field. 
Experience:
2 years related technical experience.  Experience trouble shooting methodologies that apply to networked Server/PC environment and standalone workstations.  Windows operating experience including Windows XP/Office 365, 7/Server, 2003/Windows, 2008/Red Hat Linux and Mac OSX.  Previous project management experience preferred.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to install and configure computer hardware and software, and troubleshoot computer-related problems in support of Broadcast specific technology.
Ability to communicate with non-technical personnel to resolve equipment issues.
Must possess a positive work attitude, a strong work ethic, and ability to work well with others.
Ability to prioritize and make changes to work plans without loss of efficiency or composure.
Ability to make well-informed decisions quickly while under pressure.
Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks.  Good written and verbal skills.
Ability to work a flexible work schedule in support of a 24x7x365 Broadcast operation
MCSE and CCNA certifications preferred.  Experience with Grass Valley Ignite, Avid Editing, AVID Interplay, Media Composer and VizRT preferred. Previous television experience preferred.  SBE certification a plus.
