Software Engineer II, KSL.com

DDM is currently seeking a strong mid-level Software Engineer to work on the team that develops KSL.com’s news website, backend content management system, and KSL Watch It live event streaming service. 

The Software Engineer II will primarily be working on the KSL.com News front and backend systems, databases, admin tools, & apps. This team is responsible for maintaining the KSL.com News products and systems that allow the KSL.com news team to write, produce, edit, & manage the KSL.com News website and apps. Creating and maintaining API’s, databases, backend frameworks, ad trafficking, frontend interfaces & live streaming systems. This team is responsible for empowering the news team with the tools they need to fulfill the daily and responsive demands of a modern day newsroom and news products. This team manages and works with a wide array of services, technologies, and people that serve to deliver the overall News products for KSL.com.

These are required, you’re a candidate if you can demonstrate:

  • Must have 3 or more years of job experience with web software development technologies and tools including
  • HTML5, CSS, JavaScript (ReactJS), PHP, MySQL
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn a new programming stack quickly
  • Much be experienced with PHP or comparable server side scripting language
  • Comfortable with Linux command line and production environment
  • Good understanding of web protocols, RESTful API development, security minded programming and best practices
  • Excited to learn and collaborate with others
  • Good communicator and team player
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to see the big picture and be able develop and build solutions and products spanning different systems/servers with good attention to detail

It’s a bonus if you:

  • Experience with React
  • Experience with MongoDB
  • Experience with GraphQL
  • Experience with SASS/Less
  • Experience with Linux, Apache, etc.
  • Experience working with Agile/Scrum methodology 
  • Experience with Git
  • Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD) and writing unit tests
  • Experience optimizing and working with high traffic web sites using caching and scalability technologies
  • Bachelor's Degree with IT or CS related emphasis or equivalent work experience
