his position supports the daily operation of the Immersive Learning Lab by ensuring technology, space, and users are fully supported throughout scheduled sessions and open use. Responsibilities include powering on and distributing VR headsets, assisting users with launching and navigating VR applications, and resolving common technical issues as they arise. The role also focuses on equipment care, including charging, sanitization, and proper storage at the end of each session. Team members help prepare the room for classes, demos, and events, provide in-application support to users, and maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming learning environment.

 

Duties include:

  • Provide courteous customer support for facility patrons.
    • Includes answering phones, responding to emails, tickets and slack.
  • Monitor and manage daily operations of the VR lab during open hours.
  • Power on, pair, and distribute VR headsets to users efficiently.
  • Assist instructors with launching and managing VR applications for class sessions.
  • Troubleshoot common hardware/software issues (tracking, controllers, Wi-Fi, app launch errors).
    • Occasionally assist with installation and configuration of VR software across the device pool.
  • Reconnect devices to Wi-Fi or the management platform (like ManageXR) as needed.
  • Ensure all headsets are fully charged and stored correctly at the end of each shift.
  • Perform routine sanitation and maintenance checks on all equipment.
  • Track inventory of headsets, controllers, straps, and charging stations.
  • Log technical issues, incidents, and user feedback in the tracking system.
  • Provide basic user support to students experiencing difficulty inside applications.
  • Ensure compliance with lab policies, safety guidelines, and usage procedures.
  • Assist in preparing the lab for classes, group demos, and scheduled events.
  • Communicate equipment issues or operational concerns to the supervisor promptly.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming lab environment.
  • Have a base understanding of all available VR applications

Job Requirements:

Occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.

Able to work with others in small team setting

Able to work independently

No prior technical experience is required.  On the job training will be provided.

 

NOTE: Experience with VR/XR technologies preferred but not required
 

Minimum position eligibility requirements:
Must be a currently enrolled UNLV student (if during summer, enrolled for summer or Fall)

Must meet/maintain minimum enrollment and GPA requirements:

  • Domestic Undergraduate: 6 credits/semester (Fa/Sp), 2.0 GPA
  • International Undergraduate: 12 credits/semester (Fa/Sp), 2.0 GPA
  • Domestic Graduate: 3 credits/semester (FA/SP), 3.0 GPA
  • International Graduate: 9 credits/semester (Fa/Sp), 3.0 GPA

 

Hours Expected:

16-20 hours per week. Typical shifts are 4-5 hours in length based upon employee availability. 

Hours range from Monday - Thursday 8AM to 6PM, Friday 8AM - 4PM and occasional staffed events on Saturdays.

Typically not expected to work during UNLV observed holidays.  

Limited shift availability during Winter, Spring, and Summer break.
