The Lab Monitor position is an entry level position. Lab Monitors provide computing facility access and courteous general computer support to UNLV students within the OIT maintained Computer Labs.
Duties include:
- Timeliness with facility Open/Close and/or shift exchange
- Maintenance of assigned facilities including upkeep
- Operational monitoring and security escalation
- Courteous customer service
Basic general computing support or escalation to IT technicians, such as with
- ACE account related services (webcampus, email, Multi Factor Authentication, etc)
- Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace for Education
- Web browser assistance
- File transfer, scanning, and printing
Daily communication/reports and general assistance to supervisor
Occasional voluntary (paid) additional duties with room setup or computer moves
Understand and enforce computing policies and lab rules

Job Requirements:
No prior technical experience is required. On the job training will be provided.
Position Eligibility:
Must be a UNLV student (enrolled; if during summer, enrolled for summer or Fall)
Must meet/maintain minimum enrollment and GPA requirements
- Domestic Undergraduate: 6 credits/semester (Fa/Sp), 2.0 GPA
- International Undergraduate: 12 credits/semester (Fa/Sp), 2.0 GPA
- Domestic Graduate: 3 credits/semester (FA/SP), 3.0 GPA
- International Graduate: 9 credits/semester (Fa/Sp), 3.0 GPA
Hours Expected:
Flexible up to, and no more than, 20 hours per week (applicable cumulatively to all positions held at UNLV). Typical shifts are 4-5 hours in length based upon employee availability. Hours range from 8AM to midnight, but most locations close around 9pm.
