Responsible for all moves, adds, and changes in the data center. This will cover a wide range of equipment to include servers, switches, environmental monitoring devices, power distribution units, uninterruptible power supplies, and racks.

  • Work with vendors to ensure equipment is under warranty, properly serviced, and effectively implemented.
  • Work with external groups to ensure that OIT data centers are operating effectively.
  • Maintain DCIM infrastructure and data. Utilize DCIM to support moves, additions, and changes.
  • Perform frequent audits.
  • Oversee physical security.
  • Analyze capacity data for power, cooling, rack, PDU, KVM, and UPS to support decision making.
  • Conduct customer training.


Develop and maintain internal and customer documentation. This includes, but is not limited to, how to guides, inventory, request forms, metric guidance, and emergency procedures.

  • Maintain inventory through the use of DCIM. Conduct frequent audits.
  • Develop standards and procedures for data center operations.
  • Through the use of DCIM, ensure data center resources are being used in an efficient manner. This can include tracking power, cooling, and network usage per rack, zone, and data center.


Respond to all notifications for UPS repairs and determine problem

  • Develop a list of needed repairs and assign priority to the tickets
  • Replace batteries in UPS units following procedures
  • Dispose of batteries following procedures
  • Close out tickets in a timely manner


Qualifications Required:
The candidate must:

  • Be able to meet student worker eligibility criteria, including enrollment in 6 or more credits at UNLV for each semester of employment and a cumulative GPA of 2.0
  • Work in shifts of at least 4 hours (not to exceed mandated semester limits)
  • Possess exemplary written/oral communication skills, high ethical standards, attention to detail, team orientation, and a solid commitment to delivering high-quality performance.
  • Adhere to security policies and codes of confidentiality related to department operations.
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism at all times
  • Be an active listener and strive to understand the requirements of a given request fully
